Overheating Phone

There’s no need to panic if your phone gets a little warm now and then, but when your phone becomes unusually hot, it can be worrying; overheating can lead to serious damage to your battery and screen. When your phone becomes too hot, it may stop working properly or completely shut down for a time. 

Overheating is usually related to your charger and the connection to a power supply, or the location where your phone is kept. It can also be caused by excessive use.

How to Solve Issues with Phone Overheating 

Although overheating can potentially cause severe damage, it can usually be resolved fairly easily provided there is no excessive internal damage. Solving issues related to overheating is all about prevention and ensuring you are taking good care of your phone. 

Keep Cool

Ensuring your phone is always kept in a cool, dry place is an obvious part of basic phone care, but it’s worth repeating if you find that your phone often becomes too hot. Keep your phone out of direct sunlight, especially for long periods of time. 

Removing any case on your phone is also a good idea as a case will trap heat for longer. If overheating is a regular issue, it may actually be caused by your case. Try using your phone without the case to see if that is that problem. 

Be Careful of Overuse 

Excessive and unrelenting use can also cause your phone to overheat. When trying to cool down an overheated phone, close down all of your apps and turn your phone off until it returns to a normal temperature.

Try not to use your phone for hours of gaming of video-watching if you know your phone is prone to overheating. 

Charge Carefully 

When you charge your phone, it will usually become warm. To ensure that this warmth does not develop into overheating, be aware of where your phone is and what it is surrounded by when charging. 

Your phone should not be covered while charging and should be kept on a hard surface, rather than heat-trapping spaces like a sofa or bed. 

Faulty charging cables can also be the culprit behind overheating. You may need to replace your charging equipment when faced with an overly-hot phone.
