Phone is Slow

Is there anything more annoying than a phone that just can’t keep up? A slow device is one of the most common issues faced by users and can seriously hinder the smartphone experience.

This problem usually crops up in old phones that can no longer keep up with new operating system updates. However, newer devices are not immune to becoming slow. Excessive downloads and apps running unnecessarily in the background can also cause your phone to become slow or periodically unresponsive.

Other causes for a slow phone include limited processing power, and when your Radom-Access Memory (RAM) is full of data that you do not need. In some cases, a slow response can also be triggered by malware or a virus.

How to Solve Issues with a Slow Phone

Smartphones are not necessarily known for their super-long lives and cannot always keep up with software advancements. Sometimes, if your phone is becoming too slow, it may be that it is just too old and needs to be replaced.

However, if your phone is newer and still has lots of life to give, there are a couple of tricks to get it back to its speedy self!

Clear Cache Data

If your phone’s memory is overexerted, this can lead to slow responses or freezing. You should clear the device’s cache data and close all unimportant apps that continue to run in the background when not in use. This will help clear some valuable RAM space.

Free Up Storage

You should also take this opportunity to delete any apps or software that you do not need and free up some storage by transferring photos and other files to external storage or cloud services.

On iPhones, you can transfer any data you want to store to the iCloud. Your data will usually be backed up automatically to a certain point - additional storage can be bought through iCloud if necessary.

You can also use Google Drive to store data you want to keep but cannot store directly on your phone.

Transferring photos and information straight to your laptop can also be another option if you need to free up some storage space on your phone.
